How to Make a Viktor Costume from Arcane | Cosplay Guide

Updated: Nov 29, 2022

You've seen cosplayers rock a Viktor costume, and you need to know how they did it. His design, however, can be a bit daunting at first.

Fear not, dear cosplayer, not only do I have experience making cosplays for any budget, but I've patterned the outfits for 6 different Arcane characters. So not to say I know what I'm doing but I'm pretty sure I know at least a bit.

We're going to break the costume up into a few parts:

  • Vest

  • Wig

  • Pants and Undershirt

  • Accessories

Without wasting any time, let's get into it!

Vest

Viktor's vest changes throughout the series as he wears a different outfit both pre and post-time skip.

Starting with his act 1 vest, I have a pattern for it up on my shop here. It's a great project to test your sewing skills as a beginner and hone them as an advanced seamster

If you're not much of a sewist, you can still create his vest through one of my favourite methods: thrifting and modifying.

Purchase both a white and gray vest and splice them together. Cut the center front out of both vests and replace the center front on the white vest with the gray you just cut out. Then, use the additional fabric from the gray vest to create the sleeve caps on his shoulders.

His costume is also available to purchase at MicCostumes, but they seem to prioritize a more "cropped" vest look. If that's what you're going for: awesome! But I figured I'd warn you just in case.

For his Act 2 and 3 vests, I have yet to find (or make, haha) a pattern for it, so here are some ways to purchase or modify pieces.

Starting with purchase, Cosplaysky has a version available for cheap, however, I have not purchased this myself, so take caution as I cannot vouch for the quality.

For modifying a vest, purchase a thrifted white vest and using fabric paint or embroidery thread, draw and outline his many seam line details. Don't worry if it isn't 100% accurate, as nobody's going to notice that closely.

Wig

Luckily, there are plenty of options for all sorts of price points and skill levels when it comes to wigs.

If you're looking for high-quality wigs that need styling and/or trimming, I'd recommend these two from Arda Wigs:

Magnum in "(CL-073A) Cool Brown"

Pants and Undershirt

Viktor wears a simple pair of dark gray dress slacks throughout the series. These pants really are one of the easier parts of his costume!

For his leg brace and cane, I urge you to take the time to speak to someone with disabilities before making the decision on incorporating these details into your cosplay.

Personally, as an able-bodied person, I do not have the experience to say whether it is or is not acceptable to do so, so I will be leaving these details out of my guide.

For Viktor's undershirt, he wears a muted burgundy button-up top with subtle stripe details. I'd highly recommend going out and thrifting this piece, as most thrift stores are chocked full of button-up shirts in a rainbow selection of colours.

For his necktie, once again thrifting is your friend, but you can also take a long strip of flowy, off-white fabric and tie it around your neck in a similar way to how the girl scouts do it.

(yes I did include that detail as I was a Canadian girl guide as a kid and have knot tying engrained in my brain forever.)

Accessories

For footwear, Viktor wears a sensible pair of dress shoes. If buying or thrifting a new pair of shoes, make sure you break them in before the convention, I've sprained an ankle before from wearing shoes I wasn't used to to a convention. DON'T BE LIKE ME.

And with that, we've come to the end of my deep dive into Viktor's costume from Arcane! I hope this gave you a good jumping-off point and you feel ready to tackle your own cosplay.
